Revolutionize Drain Cleaning with the ClogChopper

Rip through tough stoppages with the unique ClogChopper multifunction cutting tools from General Pipe Cleaners. Six self-sharpening blades dig into encrusted debris and root masses, easily grinding up stoppages, scale and crystallized urine, without risking pipe damage. The spherical design maneuvers around tight bends and traps, thoroughly and safely cleaning metal, plastic and clay pipes. As it spins it also self-sharpens as it scrapes along the pipe walls. It’s excellent for clearing stacks, downspouts and mains, as well as for drain lining jobs. General offers a variety of sizes and connector options, including for its drum type cables and sectional G connectors, as well as for RIDGID and Electric Eel connectors. FAQ: Hose Size and Jetter Flow

Steve “Jonesie” Jones walks you through hose size and how it relates to jetter flow, including debunking a common misconception about increasing flow. Using 3/8-inch hose for 10 gpm or less keeps the pressure drop to about 1.5 psi per foot. Going up to 12 gpm, it’s better to use a 1/2-inch hose to keep the pressure drop also around 1 psi per foot.

Pinpoint Water Leaks with the Gen-Ear

The General Pipe Cleaners Gen-Ear LE water leak locator is a simplified, more economical tool with stronger sound amplification than other systems. Use it to pinpoint water leaks in residential and commercial water lines, whether they are under concrete slabs, under carpets, or in open fields.  The compact amplifier fits easily in the palm of your hand. It provides noise-free amplification with built-in preset audio filters, so you don’t have guess what settings to use. And the high-performance headphones with noise cancellation features block out interference from surrounding ambient noise. The ground sensor listens for the gurgling or hammering of water escaping from a cracked pipe under concrete, asphalt or tile. For soft surfaces like grass or carpet, use the probe rods. Or, for above ground pipes or hydrants, you can use both the probe rods or the magnet attachment. For more information, contact the Drain Brains at General at 800-245-6200.

The Jetting Benefits of a Propane-Fueled Engine

In this video, Chris Boyles and Steve "Jonesie" Jones discuss the benefits of a propane-fueled jetter. Whether the jetting job is indoors or outdoors, the "cleaner" exhaust of propane fuel often enables the jetter to be rolled right up to the clean-out or floor drain to be jetted. Jonesie also gives tips on protocols for indoor jetting safety. For more info on propane-fueled Brute jetters, visit jettersnorthwest.com/propane-fueled/ Stay safe, and get jetting!

Coldshot 300

Repair Pressurized Plumbing Systems Without Draining

The Cold-Shot Pipe Freeze Kit from General Pipe Cleaners allows you to make repairs to pressurized plumbing systems. No need to drain water lines, sprinkler systems, or hot-water systems before cutting pipe or tubing. The Cold-Shot keeps pressurized systems operating while you make repairs. It freezes all types of liquids in steel, copper, cast iron, aluminum or plastic pipes ranging from 1/8 inch to 2 inches (10mm to 60mm) in diameter. It uses carbon dioxide from a dip-tube cylinder (available at most welding supply houses) to create an ice plug in minutes that is capable of withstanding 7,000 psi of pressure. It's faster and less expensive than "refrigerator-type" units; and it's faster and uses less CO2 than "bag-type" units. In five minutes, you're ready to go to work on copper tubing; just three minutes in cast iron pipe. For more information, visit www.drainbrain.com/coldshot

Video Jm 1000 X Mini Jet

Compact Water Jetter Clears Grease, Sand and Ice

General Pipe Cleaners' JM-1000 X Mini-Jet is ideal for clearing clogged sinks, tubs and laundry drains. The lightweight, compact toolbox jetter gives you 1,500 psi of cleaning power, yet weighs just 23 pounds. Clear grease, sand and ice from 1 1/2- to 3-inch lines up to 50 feet long. The pump and motor assembly are safely contained in a rugged metal diamond plate case that can handle abuse in the field. The portable package takes little space in your truck too. Water jets use a stream of high-pressure water that hits the stoppage and flushes it away. The thrust of the nozzle drives the hose down the line and gives you wall to wall cleaning action. Vibration helps the hose slide around tight bends and farther down the line. This is what separates General’s Jet-Set from ordinary pressure washers. It breaks the initial tension between the surface of the hose and the walls of the pipe, increasing cleaning power. The JM-1000 X is easy to carry to and from the job. The pump and motor are centered in the metal case allowing the jetter hose, water supply hose, and power cord to wrap neatly around it to create an ergonomically balanced unit. The efficient pump/motor assembly generates 1,500 psi at 1.4 gpm, yet pulls only 13 amps. Pound for pound and dollar for dollar, the Mini-Jet is a great (and small) investment. Video Root66 Demo Steve Landis

Demo: The Versatile Root 66 Drain Machine

Steve Landis of Gatti Plumbing shows you the many ways the Root 66 can help you clean a drain. The Root 66 is a real advancement in sectional cable machine design. No mid-range machine has its versatility and power. You can drive 5/8-inch cables for lines up to 3 inches and 7/8-inch cables for 4-inch lines — and you can switch from one to the other in seconds, without touching the jaws, without an adapter, without tools. And for sink drain work, slip on a drum that holds smaller cables. To operate, just feed a cable into the line and slide the back end into the machine. The excess cable goes into a guide tube. Turn on the sealed motor, press down on the handle, and the Root 66 starts spinning the cable at 400 rpm. The cable stops rotating as soon as you lift the handle, so there’s no additional torque buildup. When using a drum for small drain work, the drum stops turning when you lift the handle to the neutral position.
