PPI announces winners of Projects and Members of the Year
The Plastics Pipe Institute recently announced the winners of its Projects and Members of the Year awards. The awards were presented during the group’s annual worldwide meeting held in May in Indian Wells, California. Each year the PPI membership reviews and votes on Project of the Year and a Member of the Year for each of the five PPI divisions: Building and Construction, Drainage, Energy Piping Systems, Municipal and Industrial, and Power and Communications. The PPI Member of the Year recognition is for an individual’s outstanding support and contributions to the association and the industry.
The Project of the Year award winners were:
- PPI Building and Construction Division Project of the Year: The Waterline Complex, Austin, Texas, with PPI member company GF Building Flow Solutions, Apple Valley, Minnesota.
- PPI Drainage Division Project of the Year: Howard Frankland Bridge, Tampa, Florida, with member company Advanced Drainage Systems, Hilliard, Ohio.
- PPI Energy Piping Systems Division Project of the Year: upgrading Canadian Oil producer pipeline with PPI member company FlexSteel USA.
- PPI Municipal and Industrial Division Project of the Year: Boat Harbor, James River Crossing, Treatment Plant, Newport News, Virginia, with PPI member companies High Country Fusion, Fairfield, Idaho; Performance Pipe, Plano, Texas; and AGRU America, Georgetown, South Carolina. And with HDPE users Garney Construction, Kansas City, Missouri; and Dewberry Engineering, Fairfax, Virginia .
- PPI Power and Communications Division Project of the Year: Pennsylvania Turnpike Micro-Trenching Project with PPI member company Dura-Line, Knoxville, Tennessee.
The Member of the Year award winners were:
- PPI Building and Construction Division Member of the Year: Daniel Pierce, Reliance Worldwide Corp., Atlanta, Georgia
- PPI Drainage Division Member of the Year: Dan Figola, Advanced Drainage Systems, Hilliard, Ohio
- PPI Municipal and Industrial Division Member of the Year: Gerry Groen, Infra Pipe Solutions, Ontario, Canada
- PPI Power and Communications Division Member of the Year: Andrew Nause, IPEX USA, Pineville, North Carolina
GF Building Flow Solutions’ Kate Olinger elected to PPI Board
The Plastics Pipe Institute has named Kate Olinger, director of industry relations and regulatory affairs at GF Building Flow Solutions Americas, vice chair of the board of directors. Her role went into effect June 1 and will consist of a two-year term. Olinger has been a member of PPI since 2012 and previously served as vice chair of the Building and Construction Division from 2018-20 and chair from 2020-22. She has also served three previous terms on the PPI board of directors, including her most recent role as treasurer.
LACDA uses ePIPE in apartment upgrades
The Los Angeles County Development Authority tackled a major infrastructure upgrade at Nueva Maravilla Apartments. With hundreds of units facing aging and corroded water pipes, LACDA used a noninvasion solution from ePIPE to deliver a solution that would protect tenants, preserve property integrity, improve water quality and reduce costs. The project included water piping restoration across 349 units, and all units remained occupied during the process.

GraniteNet streamlines workflows and provides powerful asset management tools for municipalities and contractors.
Century Chemical sponsors YWCA in Indiana to support survivors
Century Chemical sponsored the YWCA North Central Indiana’s Spring/Summer Donation Match Campaign, pledging a dollar-for-dollar match for the first $10,000 in gifts made during the fundraising effort. The campaign supports Safe Haven, the YWCA’s critical program for survivors of domestic violence. Running from late June through September, the annual drive highlights stories of courage from survivors who have broken free from abuse and begun rebuilding their lives. The funds raised and matched will support Safe Haven’s vital services, including emergency housing, counseling, legal advocacy and wraparound care for women and children in Elkhart County.
