Vactor Manufacturing’s JetRight Technology addresses a long-standing challenge in underground utility maintenance: balancing high-powered vacuum performance with precise, regulated water pressure.
Available on combination sewer cleaners like the Vactor 2100i, JetRight acts as an automated pressure management system that allows operators to set a target maximum water pressure that the machine will not exceed, regardless of engine throttle settings.
“This is especially important when pressure should be limited while jetting,” says David Brockman, Vactor product manager. “This simplifies operation by helping operators focus on the job at hand rather than worrying about exceeding pressure parameters.”
Traditional sewer jetting systems link water pump output directly to engine speed, meaning higher throttle levels for strong vacuum suction automatically increase jetting pressure. JetRight decouples this link, as operators establish a maximum pressure threshold on the control panel before jetting. Even if engine throttle is increased to maximize vacuum suction for heavy sediment, water pressure remains strictly capped at the set limit. Fully integrated into Vactor’s IntuiTouch control panel and Multi-Flow System, the water pump is adjusted hydraulically on demand rather than mechanically tied to engine rpm. By preventing water from repeatedly dumping over relief valves during high-throttle operations, JetRight significantly reduces hydraulic system overheating and premature component wear.
Aging municipal sewer networks frequently contain cracked vitrified clay, deteriorated brickwork or compromised pipe joints. Standard, unmanaged pressure spikes can easily erode or collapse these fragile conduits. JetRight ensures line jetting stays below destructive pressure thresholds. Also, when potholing or excavating near buried electrical lines, gas mains or fiber optic utilities, operators must strictly limit water pressure to avoid slicing through underground assets. JetRight guarantees that safety parameters are maintained throughout the dig. Clearing deep line blockages requires maximum vacuum air conveyance alongside high water volume. JetRight lets crews ramp up engine rpm for maximum vacuum suction without risking water pressure blowouts in the sewer pipe.
“As with many of our combination sewer cleaners, the JetRight Technology can be customized to meet various flow and pressure ratings,” Brockman says. “We are always innovating new ways to help customers enhance efficiency and productivity. This is another customizable innovation that helps remove the guesswork from sewer maintenance.”
By eliminating pressure guesswork, JetRight enables municipal crews and contractors to work faster, safeguard underground assets and extend equipment service life.
