HammerHead Trenchless Equipment introduced the North American market to its new line of HydraLiner composite inversion drums as well as its complete line of cured-in-place pipe lining equipment and accessories at the Expo in February.

“The unique thing about offering inversion drums made out of composites is we’re able to reduce the weight by about 31 percent over traditional drums, but at the same time increase capacity by about 35 percent,” says Ryan Boldan, lateral system product manager for HammerHead. “Increased capacity allows for longer shots and more working room inside the drums. It just makes life easier for the contractor and expands what they can accomplish.”

Boldan says the composite drums also can withstand the higher temperatures needed for steam curing; they’re corrosion free, easily maintained and seamless.

“When we were launching this and getting ready for Pumper, we wanted to have some unique features that were truly ground-breaking in the industry, and the composite drum is one of those, for sure.”

HammerHead’s steel and composite inversion drums are available in five models, from the 61-pound Mini-Hydra (23.5 inches wide, 29.5 inches long and 32.1 inches high) for basements and confined spaces to the 209-pound steel Super-Hydra (41.5 inches wide, 60.2 inches long and 57.9 inches high) that can carry up to 492 feet of liner.

“The addition of our new CIPP product line provides our customers with a complete trenchless solution for both replacing and rehabilitating lateral lines,” Boldan says.

Along with the two composite drums, HammerHead also unveiled a hot water boiler, steam generator, wet-out tables, epoxies and accessories.

HammerHead’s two styles of lining, designed for ambient, hot water or steam curing, include the HHFlex and HHPVC. The HHFlex liner is available in sizes from 2 to 8 inches and will handle 22-, 45- and 90-degree turns, while HHPVC is designed for 4- to 12-inch diameter pipe.
