Precision Jet Cutting from ID-TEC applies high pressure and low flow directly to the root mass from a steerable nozzle at the front of a robot. The operator uses the controls to set the pressure to what is required, generally 7,250 psi for removing roots from lateral connections, pipe manhole connections and at joints. A camera provides eyes on the operation and helps the operator to ensure that the line is completely clear before he moves on to the next. The technique can be used in 6-inch and larger pipelines and reduces consumption of water, fuel and time as a dense root mass is cleared in minutes.
