Precision jet cutting used on hardened fat deposit

Problem: In Bedfordshire, United Kingdom, an enormous FOG deposit 9.5 inches thick and 330 feet long was taking up half the width of a sewer pipe. The deposit, caused by congealed fats and oils mixed with baby wipes, was so hard that various cleaning attempts with regular jetting equipment were unsuccessful.

Solution: The Anglian Water District turned to ID-TEC’s PRECISION JET CUTTING system from the Netherlands. The equipment has a precise steerable nozzle and a camera at the front of a sewer robot. The technique can be used with water pressures from 3,000 up to 32,000 psi for removing FOG, tree roots, extremely hard calcium deposits and accidentally dumped concrete.

Result: The massive fat problem was fully removed from the pipeline using 7,250 psi precision jet cutting in a 10-day operation. 503/504-8474; www.sr-series.com.
