The basically spherical Tulip Cutter tools from ENZ USA are designed to clean vent pipes, drains and other smaller piping. The self-sharpening tools are made of hardened steel. Outside diameters range from 7/8 to 3 1/2 inches. The design enables the tools to negotiate tight bends, from P-traps to 90-degree turns.

“Debris, as it comes off, pushes itself out and doesn’t get jammed up,” says Dana Hicks, sales manager. “There’s not an edge that’s going to get caught on something.” Developed in Europe and adapted to the U.S. market by ENZ USA, the tool can be used with any drain cleaning machine.

Made to remove clogs where high-pressure water can’t be used, the tools can cut through roots, grease and other debris. “I had a guy use it on concrete deposits,” Hicks says. “He wore out the tool, but there was nothing else he could find to use. I’m sure it would take out tuberculation in cast-iron pipe.” 630/692-7880; www.enzusainc.com.
