Gen-Eye POD Provides Low-Cost, Flexible Inspection Tool

Compact and self-contained, the Gen-Eye POD video inspection system from General Pipe Cleaners is aimed at contractors who seek an entry-level unit.

“Our customer feedback showed demand for a system that’s more compact and less expensive,” says Marty Silverman, vice president of marketing. “This unit is also good for someone who has a number of vehicles and wants to put a camera in each truck, but can’t otherwise afford it.”

The POD combines a camera, open reel and monitor in one unit that is 33 inches tall with the monitor fully extended and 24 inches tall with it folded down. The width is 14-1/2 inches, the length is 18-1/2 inches, and the weight is 25 pounds.

The 5.6-inch LCD color monitor includes a sun screen. It is mounted on a gooseneck that rotates 355 degrees, enabling the operator to select an optimal viewing angle. “This allows you to position the monitor to avoid sunlight reflection,” Silverman says. “Also, if you ever have to put the reel on its side because, for instance, you’re on an angled roof or under a sink, you can adjust the screen accordingly.”

The POD includes a color mini camera designed to inspect 2- to 4-inch lines. An LED dimmer lets operators control the lighting during inspections. The unit comes with 125 feet of cable or 175 feet of pushrod. A video-out connection accommodates an external recording device, and an optional 512 Hz transmitter allows camera location.

The unit, which can be operated horizontally or vertically, also includes a drag brake and reel lock. For information, call 800/245-6200 or visit www.drainbrain.com.
