A New York City plumber is working hard to educate young girls about the opportunities available in the trades.

After initially having aspirations to become a lawyer, Judaline Cassidy found her way to plumbing and has since developed a fulfilling career. She wants girls to know that same pathway is possible for them, and with that in mind, founded Tools & Tiaras in 2017. Cassidy recently wrapped up another summer camp with girls ages 6 to 14.

“It’s really important because girls have a fire in their bellies and their hearts and their minds at that age and then society has a way of smothering it,” Cassidy says of the reason for targeting girls as young as 6. “I don’t want that to happen to them. I want them to grow up always being empowered.”

Cassidy is hoping to expand Tools & Tiaras in the coming years. A new chapter in Boston is about to hold its first summer camp.
