June is National Safety Month and EquipmentShare, an equipment rental and technology company, is using the occasion to promote a new initiative: 7 Seconds of Safety.

The idea is that taking a brief moment to ensure everything is safe for yourself and those around you goes a long way.

“If you just take as little as 7 seconds to stop what you are doing, check it, make sure it is safe, then you are helping us protect our No. 1 asset and that’s all of you,” says Amy Susán, EquipmentShare’s director of communications, in the video below. “Not sure if things are safe and ready to go? Take 7 seconds to make sure it is.”

In this particular video, EquipmentShare also provides some advice about preventing slips, trips and falls on the job. According to OSHA, slips, trips and falls account for nearly 700 deaths each year, and almost all workers’ compensation injuries.
