Inspection + Get AlertsMr. Rooter Plumbing of the Twin Cities recovered more than a wedding ring for homeowner Chee Lor when they were called to recover the ring from her Saint Paul, Minnesota, home in late August.
Lor had called Mr. Rooter after the ring had fallen in the toilet and went down into the pipes.
Technician Brandon Rogers was dispatched to the residence. Once he arrived, Rogers began to assess the situation. He grabbed his inspection camera and sent it down the line only to find more than a diamond ring. Just in front of where the wedding ring came to rest he discovered a pair of diamond earrings.
“I could tell she was very upset, and I wanted to do what I could to help her out,” Rogers says. “I grabbed my camera we use for looking down pipes and, after sending it down 35 feet, I was shocked that the first thing I came across was not her diamond wedding ring but rather a pair of diamond earrings.”
Rogers immediately went to work to recover the lost items. He grabbed his shop vac and a garden hose. After pushing the hose down the drain he was able to pull up the earrings. After a few more attempts he successfully recovered the wedding ring.
“I wasn’t sure I would be able to recover the ring, but was glad that I was able to do it for her,” Rogers says. “She was so relieved.”
After the job was complete Rogers said Lor wanted to know how much she owed him and Rogers replied, ”It’s on me.”
“We are very happy that Brandon was able to make a customer's day,” says Michael Wickam, owner of Mr. Rooter Plumbing of the Twin Cities. “We know losing items down the drain can be stressful, and this was an unusual call because of the earrings. But at the end of the day, it was great the way it all worked out.”
