Micro-cutter renews pipe systemProblem: The 40-year-old cast iron stormwater drain at the Phoenix Plaza office building in Hartford, Conn., drained poorly due to root intrusion and debris.Solution: E&G Waterworks in Templeton, Mass., cleaned 1,200 feet of 4-inch and larger pipe with the Pneumatic Micro-Cutter from Nu Flow. The system rotates at 1,500 rpm in 1.5- to 6-inch pipes up to 100 feet long and negotiates 90-degree turns in even 2-inch pipes.
