When Andrew Dixon lived in his home state of Montana, he could be found outside most of the year. Whether fishing, hunting, or riding dirt bikes, Dixon and his friends took full advantage of Montana’s natural beauty.
“I have had some real success in hunting,” says Dixon, now a North Carolina resident running Zoom Drain Raleigh Southeast. “A few seasons ago, I killed a bull elk, which some people may spend 20 or 30 years trying to harvest. It’s something hunters dream of.”
Outdoor activities would change with the seasons in Montana. Winters consisted of ice fishing and bear hunting. Once things warmed up, the summers were spent wakeboarding and riding dirt bikes. Then, when the fall rolled around, Dixon would go camping with friends, just in time for the cycle to start over again.
“We’d play football in the summer, camp out in the fall. That’s when you start hunting. After Christmas, hunting season ends and there’s ice on the water. It was a revolving circle.”
Things are a little different for Dixon now living in North Carolina. With a Zoom Drain franchise to run and a young daughter to raise, bear hunting and ice fishing have taken a back seat. But they’re still near and dear to him.
“I want to get back to Montana this year,” Dixon says. “Hopefully I can squeeze in a trip.”
