Everyone has lost something at one time or another – keys, wallet, cell phone – and spent hours or even days searching in vain for something we know should be right where we always leave it. It’s frustrating. You have to track down spare keys, cancel credit cards or pony up far more money to replace a phone than it actually cost you in the first place.

In another strange story straight from the British underground, one sewer and water company is trying to reunite owners with some of their long-lost treasures … err … teeth. Yes, teeth. Well, dentures, actually. So, if your smile has gone down the drain, your pearly whites may be waiting for you at the other end.

Severn Trent recently launched its “Nominate Your Gnashers” campaign to return flushed dentures to their rightful owners. The company has pictures of nine sets of dentures posted on its website. To ensure that dentures are returned only to their rightful owners, those looking to reclaim their smile will have to explain when and where their dentures were flushed, though it’s questionable if anyone would actually try to claim someone else’s dentures, especially knowing they had tumbled through the sewer system.

If you’re living in England and still searching for the dentures you’ve been missing since that late night trip to the bathroom back in July, or if you just appreciate humorous oddities, check out the Severn Trent website: www.stwater.co.uk/conWebDoc/2447.
