Everyone loves a parade. Music, Christmas lights, and candy entertain the kids; people run into friends on the sidewalks; and you get to highlight your business. Yes, you read that correctly: You are advertising your business when you take part in these community events.

Right now, many communities are having holiday celebrations, including parades. These parades present a great opportunity for you to show off and tell the community about your company, and it’s nearly free.

You don’t have to spend big money on a float. Wrap your vacuum truck or other equipment with Christmas lights and hang a banner on it, or have some kids (maybe children of employees) walk alongside handing out candy, fliers, or promotional items.

Here are some affordable ways to be a part of a local parade:

  • Vinyl banners can be held on a truck or float, or long ones can be carried by a few people on foot.
  • Car magnets are perfect for parade vehicles because of the slow-moving traffic. People will read the magnet over and over again along the route.
  • Lightweight poster signs are easy to hold up while walking or riding on a parade vehicle.
  • Freebies that are easy to hand out along the parade route like custom-printed pens and other branded items are also a great way to stand out.

The point of being part of a parade as a business is to get noticed by potential customers. So on those signs, don’t forget the information people need to know about your company. Contact information, an idea of what you do, your website, logo, phone number and social media handles are all good things to have on signs.

Another benefit to taking part in these holiday parades — it gets you in the spirit for the season!
