Milwaukee Electric Tool Corp. has expanded its M12 System with the introduction of the cordless M12 Drain Snake developed for the challenges plumbers and drain cleaning technicians encounter when cleaning fixtures and small drainlines up to 25 feet, while providing the benefits of both hand-held and floor-mounted drain cleaning machines.

“Drain snakes are essential tools for plumbers and facility maintenance crews, but current tools on the market are difficult to operate and maneuver due to cords, overall weight and exposed spinning drums,” says Corey Dickert, vice president of product management. “The simple cordless setup of the M12 Drain Snake frees users from the hassle of wrestling with cords, carrying extension cords or spending time looking for outlets, allowing them to get back to the job at hand.

"In addition, this is the only hand-held unit with a fixed drum shield to protect the fixture and user from the spinning drum," Dickert says. "When we combine these cordless benefits with our new-to-world design, we’re able to truly provide a level of productivity that these users have never experienced before.”

The REDLITHIUM Battery Pack delivers more work per charge and more work over pack life, maintaining power under load better than corded competitors. In addition, eliminating the cord increases productivity and safety for the user by providing instant setup and reducing the risk of electroshock hazards associated with AC tools in wet environments.

Typically, one of the biggest annoyances of this job is the potential for the fully exposed spinning drum to come into contact with the fixture or user. By designing a fixed shield around the drum, Milwaukee has eliminated this potential, making operation safer for the user and surrounding materials.

For easier cable feed, users can rest the tool on its flat base, freeing up a hand that is typically used to hold the tool. Weighing just 10 pounds, the M12 Drain Snake is also the lightest 2 1/2-inch drainline machine. The tool’s drum shield and light weight make it the easiest hand machine for overhead, below the waist and confined space use.

Milwaukee will also launch a line of drain cables compatible with the M12 Drain Snake and other professional drain cleaning machines that will feature a solid polymer core that will not rust.

The M12 Drain Snake is compatible with the entire M12 System, which now offers over 70 cordless Lithium-Ion products.
