But First, Let Me Take a #draincleaningselfie

Don’t cringe. Hashtags are how people connect across social media, so let’s embrace it — together.

There’s no avoiding the hashtag phenomenon that has overtaken the social media craze. We want to play along, so we’re asking you to submit your #draincleaningselfie.

Think about it. A single word or phrase used to identify the topic of a social media post can have a massive, widespread impact. The simple #IceBucketChallenge has helped spread awareness and raise almost $100 million for a fatal and paralyzing disease that many people didn’t even know existed.

We’re not looking to change the world or raise money, but we would like to create the face of the industry, literally.

You — and your technicians — have a smartphone in hand or attached to your hip throughout the day as you run from job to job, so snap a pic and post it to the Cleaner Facebook page.

Not sure how to do it? Just email it to me and I’ll get it posted. Be sure to include your name, company name and a snippet about where the photo was taken.

You read Cleaner articles because you want to know how other drain cleaners tackle the same issues you face. Well, what better way to tell than to show? We want to see what you’re doing — right now — in some on-the-job snapshots.

I want to thank our friends at Ted Berry Company in Livermore, Maine, for the idea, because they do a phenomenal job updating their Facebook page with photos of hard-working employees and recognizing them for a job well done.

Here’s a peek at one of Ted Berry’s latest posts that prompted this call for your #draincleaningselfie:

And this mask selfie hails from Jake Ziegler at Innerline Engineering.

He snapped this during a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) fit test training class at the shop.

What are you waiting for? The #lifeofadraincleaner comes with plenty of challenges. Send us your on-the-job mugs so we can see how you do everything from wrestling with cable repairs to fixing unexpected flat tires.
