NASCCO has announced a slate of upcoming classes for inspector training and certification for both cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) installation and manhole rehabilitation.

NASSCO’s Inspector Training and Certification Program (ITCP) is a new standard national training and certification program that provides field construction professionals (i.e., consulting and municipal engineers, contractors) with comprehensive learning and tools to understand and inspect trenchless pipeline renewal technology.

CIPP (ITCP-CIPP)

Register your engineers and project inspectors for NASSCO’s comprehensive two-day Inspector Training and Certification Program. Utility owners can feel more confident when being represented by a NASSCO-trained CIPP inspector. Contractors usually realize higher profits when a project goes well. The two-day CIPP program consists of classroom learning in the following five areas, specific to each technology:

  • Existing pipe defects and how they affect CIPP installations
  • Overview of the CIPP technology
  • The field installation of CIPP
  • Specifications: The inspector’s instructions and guidelines
  • Pipeline renewal technologies and applications including the TAG-R renewal technology selection software

Attendees who successfully complete the training will receive 1.35 Continuing Education Units and a certificate. They will also get a copy of the Trenchless Assessment Guide for Rehabilitation (TAG-R), an interactive software program that will allow the engineer and inspector to select applicable technologies for different project conditions.

Manhole Rehabilitation (ITCP-MR)

The student will learn about the different manhole components and applicable rehabilitation technologies. Manhole preparation, quality assurance requirements and tests will be reviewed. Both replacement and rehabilitation technologies will be discussed including potential issues and recommended inspector actions required. Specifications, as related to the inspector’s requirements will be presented and students will be required to take and pass a certification exam encompassing the content of the program.
