As a proponent of developing skilled workers in Ohio, Ridge Tool Company (RIDGID) supports area technical schools and training programs. In September 2012, workers broke ground on a new Zane State College (ZSC) facility in Cambridge, Ohio. The college, which offers two-year associate degree programs, certificate programs, workshops, and occupational skills training, will use the state-of-the-art, 46,000-square-foot Advanced Science and Technology Center to house the school’s energy programs.

As Cambridge is the home of the North American Distribution Center for RIDGID products, RIDGID was fortunate to be asked to participate. As a result, a classroom in the new center will bear the RIDGID name.

Last month, project sponsors were on hand for a ceremony at the Cambridge site to autograph the support beams for the new facility. Sponsor representatives, including RIDGID reps Brian Shanahan and Amy Barrett, signed the beams, which were placed at the top of the building last week. Workers will continue with construction throughout the summer and have an expected completion date of January 2014.

“We’re proud to support Zane State College in this project,” says Shanahan, who, along with Barrett, Warren Steiner and RIDGID President Fred Pond, attended the groundbreaking ceremony last fall. “RIDGID fully supports education initiatives that help our future trade professionals develop the career skills they need. The new Science and Technology Center will offer cutting-edge tools and prepare students for success in the 21stcentury.”
