High-Pressure Cleaning Unit Is Built for Versatility

The Stripe Hog 3000 high-pressure cleaning system from Waterblasting Technologies combines high-pressure waterjetting with vacuum recovery and a self-cleaning debris tank.

“The unit can work in virtually any ultra-high-pressure waterblasting situation, from removing stripes on roads to tube cleaning to stripping waterproof membranes off parking decks to hydrodemolition,” says Phil Case, vice president of operations. “And because it includes a waterblaster and a vacuum system, it eliminates the need for two separate pieces of equipment.”

The SH3000 provides pressures up to 40,000 psi at 7.8 gpm. Operators can convert the manifold to 10,000 psi/28 gpm or 20,000 psi/14 gpm to fit the application. Powered by a 225-hp John Deere diesel engine, the unit weighs 15,000 pounds empty and 24,000 pounds when full. It carries a 1,050-gallon polypropylene water tank, which allows contractors to work without an outside water source.

The vacuum system delivers 800 cfm of airflow through a 3-inch hose at 10 inches Hg. “It vacuums from the point of blasting,” Case notes. “If you’re working with toxic substances or anything else that’s environmentally hazardous, the system sucks it up and stores it in the vacuum recovery tank, which has a stainless steel interior.”

The vacuum recovery tank can hold 1,200 gallons, and the unit’s Smart Vac technology separates debris from the water. “The unit has a self-dumping mechanism, so you don’t have to tip the tank to dump it,” Case says. “As the door opens, debris is pulled out hydraulically. You don’t have to find a level spot or disconnect any hoses.

“But if debris must be contained, you can empty the tank into a dump container. If not, you just open the door and dump the debris, and in the process, the debris tank is self-cleaning,” Case says. “That eliminates downtime you’d normally devote to cleaning the tank.”

The SH3000 comes on a steel skid that can be mounted on a flatbed truck. Or contractors can set it on a roll-off device and make it portable. Contractors can also attach it to a vertical crawler and remove paint from power plant stacks, ship hulls and tanks. 772/223-7393; www.waterblastingtechnologies.com.
