Water on Wheels

Manufacturers offer advances in trailer waterjetters that let contractors bring big cleaning power to the jobsite

When the job is too big for a portable jetter and not big enough for a high-powered truck-mounted unit, trailer jetters perform admirably. Today’s trailered units provide ample cleaning power, often in compact and maneuverable packages for working in close spaces. Here is a rundown of some of the latest innovations in waterjet power on two wheels.

Heavy-duty output

The Model 184 waterjetter from Mongoose Jetters delivers 18 gpm at 4,000 psi and carries a 300-gallon water tank. Power comes from a 50-hp diesel engine. The hose reel is built with 1/4-inch-thick steel to withstand maximum working pressures. An industrial rotation bearing provides smooth rotation. The reel holds 600 feet of 1/2-inch cleaning hose.

Controls are contained in a weatherproof NEMA 4 control box. An optional Smart Counter footage counter delivers accuracy within one percent. Wireless remote control is available for one-man operation. The frame is built with tubular steel and a 6,000 pound rated axle for durability. Call 841/729-3316 or visit www.mongoosejetters.com.

Easement jetter

The Model JAJ-600TH easement machine from Sewer Equipment Co. of America is equipped with a track system for travel into adverse conditions. A standard auxiliary tool circuit lets users add a variety of hydraulic work tools. The unit is compact enough to fit through a 36-inch gate.

The unit is available with a gasoline or diesel engine. It has a 4-wheel-drive system with 360-degree turning. The rotating and articulating hose reel is removable. The hose reel controls operate in forward, neutral and reverse. Options include a hydraulic dump box, dual wheels and rims, hydraulic root cutter, electric hoist, and transport trailer. The unit delivers 12 gpm at 2,500 psi to clear lines of grease, sediment, and debris. The 200-gallon tank carries enough water to handle applications where access to water is limited.

A 24-hp Honda engine with electric start powers the pump, which has a Vibrapulse system by way of a 2-to-1 V-belt reducer. Two hose reels — a jet hose reel with 400 feet of 1/2-inch hose featuring electric rewind, and a supply hose reel carrying 150 feet of 3/4-inch hose — are mounted at the rear of the unit next to the pressure gauge and output valve. Engine controls, including an hour meter, are mounted within easy reach in the lockable toolbox with sliding doors just below the reels. Call 800/245-6200 or visit www.drainbrain.com.
