Space-conscious drain cleaners will appreciate the all-in-one design of the Intruder Elite family of video inspection systems from Vision Technology Design & Manufacturing Inc.
The systems include an integrated monitor and detachable push-rod reels. The camera monitor is built into a lightweight frame and does not have to be carried separately to the job, says company president Jack Felix.
“We went down that road because technicians’ trucks are becoming so crammed with equipment,” Felix says. For technicians who find it difficult to view a monitor outdoors on a sunny day, the 7-inch, high-resolution LCD screen has a sun shield and LED brightness control. It provides a clear picture from any angle that is “as close as you can get to glare-free,” Felix says.
A picture inverter enables technicians to rotate upside-down images so they appear upright. The unit also has an on-screen footage counter and text writer. Users can choose an optional digital video recorder (DVR) or DVD recorder. Video footage can then be downloaded and e-mailed to a customer. The unit is compatible with any conventional video recording device, Felix notes.
The reel carries a 100-foot push rod with 1-inch-diameter micro camera head, or a 200-foot push rod with a 1.3-inch mini-camera head. The camera heads are available in black-and-white or color. The reels are detachable and interchangeable, enabling users to inspect 1- to 6-inch pipes.
A dual-frequency transmitter that broadcasts at 512 HZ and 874 Hz works with any locator to pinpoint the location and depth of the camera head down to 12 feet. The unit runs on 12-volt DC power (with an AC wall adapter) or a built-in rechargeable battery that provides four hours of continuous use. For information: 877/724-3435; www.vtdesign.com.
