I enjoy and look forward to your magazine on a regular basis. I enjoy the different articles, and my favorite was last year’s story on the elder gentleman from Minnesota written by Ken Wysocky.
I do have a problem, though, which often appears in a picture on your front cover and appeared again in the May edition: Guys pictured working while wearing tennis shoes. I will send home anyone who works with me for that very reason. I tell them there are no hoops or tennis courts were I am working.
I’m sorry, but being in this trade for 28 years, the technology might have changed, but the basic skills of work have not. I can personally remember at least six times when I was rodding with sectional cables and all of a sudden my helper is screaming for me to stop, or I see a tennis shoe go whipping through the air after the cable catches the tongue or strings of a tennis shoe.
Last year, one of your issues showed a couple of guys wearing hip-hop pants with tennis shoes. I am starting to wonder if your featured cover guys carry worker’s compensation insurance. Take a survey among owner-operators who have been in business awhile, and if tennis shoes are accepted for doing drain cleaning in 2009, I stand corrected. Please let me know. Thanks for your time.
